Abstract
The preservation of human life is a fundamental principle upheld by all major revealed religions, including Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. In the modern era, where advancements in medicine, technology, and global crises present new ethical challenges, the religious imperative to save lives remains as relevant as ever. This research study explores the theological and ethical foundations of life-saving within the teachings of revealed religions, analyzing scriptural texts, traditions, and scholarly interpretations. It examines how these faiths emphasize the sanctity of life, the moral obligation to protect it, and the contemporary applications of these principles in fields such as healthcare, disaster response, and social justice. By drawing upon Quranic verses, Biblical teachings, and Judaic law, the study highlights the shared and distinct perspectives of these religions on life preservation. Additionally, it addresses modern dilemmas, including medical ethics, organ donation, and humanitarian aid, through a religious lens. The findings underscore the enduring significance of religious teachings in guiding ethical decision-making and fostering a collective responsibility toward saving lives in an increasingly complex world. In Islam, the act of rescuing and saving lives holds immense significance, deeply rooted in the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad(Pbuh). The religion emphasizes compassion, mercy, and proactive assistance to those in distress. The Quran states, "Whoever saves a life, it is as though he has saved all of mankind" (5:32), highlighting the sanctity of human life. Similarly, the Hadith "The best of people are those who bring most benefit to others" underscores the moral obligation to aid others in times of crisis, difficulty and in danger. Islamic history is replete with examples of rescue missions, whether during wars, natural disasters, or personal hardships, reflecting the duty of Muslims to protect and support the vulnerable. This paper explores the theological foundations of rescue in revealed religions, its ethical implications, and its practical applications in modern humanitarian efforts.
