Abstract

This article presents the "poverty aware social work paradigm," a new approach for working with individuals who are currently facing the challenges of poverty.The changing landscape necessitates a reevaluation of the way in which the body of knowledge, known as new welfare theory or critical poverty knowledge, interacts with the field of social work.One of the three interconnected parts of the paradigm focuses on addressing questions such as "What defines poverty?" and "What are the key traits of service recipients?"
